Our volunteers are vital to our success
Our RDA sessions simply could not operate without the dedicated services of our volunteers. They help out in a number of ways. They keep the register of riders; fit their riding hats; help them mount and dismount the horse; lead the horse; or side-walk.
Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds. Some have horse riding experience and some do not. The only things they have in common are a love of horses, a love of children and a desire to help. Our volunteers are all DBS checked.

Here are some quotes from our happy volunteers!
“I’ve been volunteering at Barnfield RDA for several years. I love the riders, the horses, the staff and the other volunteers. Whatever people can contribute is really appreciated. A great way to spend one afternoon a week. Very rewarding.” Cathy
“RDA is brilliant for the children – and is our therapy as well – I’ve gone there thinking I had no energy and have come away after feeling really good!” Chrissie
“I often wonder who gets more out of the RDA sessions – the children or me! Watching the children develop and build in confidence over the weeks and seeing how the horses interact with them is just magical – I feel privileged to be part of it.” Coral
“I initially volunteered with the RDA as another excuse to spend time with horses. However not only have I made some lovely friends, but seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and how much it means to them, makes every session worth it.” Sam
“Contributing to the Barnfield RDA cause by volunteering one afternoon a week is so rewarding. The children we look after get so much pleasure from their rides and it is a joy to see even the most disabled children grow in confidence week after week.” Claire
“I am at my happiest when I’m at Barnfield! Lovely supportive people and wonderful horses. I volunteer four days a week ; working with the horses and helping with the RDA sessions. I have such a lot of fun and I’ve learnt so much and gained so many new skills.” Olivia
If you have a few hours a week spare, and are interested in becoming a volunteer, please get in touch. You will be guaranteed a warm welcome.
