Welcome to Barnfield Riding for the Disabled Association based at Barnfield Riding School!
We are a charity run by volunteers and provide safe horse riding therapy lessons for children and adults with disabilities from all backgrounds and cultures. Even children with the most severe disabilities can benefit from safe horse riding therapy which involves the experience of new senses such as movement, touch, smell, with added muscle strengthening. This is a gradual therapy programme that can last over a period of several weeks or even years. We offer a programme of subsidised lessons to neighbouring schools for children with disabilities and also subsidised private group lessons.
Qualified teachers run the lessons and we provide the volunteers that are necessary to look after the children and maintain safety during the lessons. We have a register of riders and knowledge of the disability condition each child suffers from. We have a register of our volunteers who are all DBS checked and trained in HSE practices.
We have recently raised funds for a new Mechanical Horse simulator and lessons are now available!
How can you help?
We are 100% reliant on donations so any contribution is very much appreciated. During the Covid-19 crisis we have been unable to hold our usual fundraising events so consenquently our funds are rapidly diminishing.
You can help by donating through our new JustGiving appeal or direct to our bank via this link or cheques made out to Barnfield RDA and delivered to Barnfield Riding School.
